GOAL: Develop outline of a MISSION STATEMENT to be shared with the full NCVHS Committee, taking into consideration such constructs and issues as:

• Integration across priorities and perspectives (standards, privacy, population-based health)
• Sharpened focus on minority health statistics and state & local data
• Role in advising NCHS

Organizational Issues:

GOAL: Participants to prioritize organizational concerns. Top issues to be discussed using a What’s Working, What’s Not, and Suggestions for Improvement Format

Examples of discussion topics include:

• Committee & Subcommittee Membership and Functioning
• Communication among Committee members and between staff and Committee Members of NCVHS
• Operations & Staffing

Closure:

Participants share “significant learning from day’s work” statements, to include brief response to following questions:

• How NCVHS is best positioned to address new issues
• How NCVHS can achieve optimal effectiveness
